With the 26th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins select Mississippi State EDGE Montez Sweat. (Pick was acquired via trade with Indianapolis Colts, at the cost of 46 overall and a 2020 second-round pick).
Sweat's fall ends at 26, where the Redskins are willing to take a risk on Montez's Sweat's questionable Combine medicals. Given the loss of Preston Smith in free agency, the Redskins needed to add a dynamic edge rusher, and Sweat fits the bill, with length and power to spare.
