PROS: Super physical MIKE LB who does a terrific job of imposing his will on ball carriers between the tackles. He's surprisingly effective as a blitzer, too. He'll bring the heat with nice twist work back inside to interior gaps and shows a good knack for good closing angles. He's not afraid to drop the hammer and stuff up a gap with his pads as well. Like his intensity -- he hustles and busts his ass trying to get over the top of outside run concepts. Should provide value on the early downs.
CONS: He doesn't necessarily fill the role of a three down linebacker in today's NFL -- not crazy about his work in zone coverage and he appears to stiff to play a lot of effective man to man coverage against backs out of the backfield. For as physical as he is, he does get outreached at the point of attack and his ability to press and extend in order to get off of blocks isn't a plus asset and there's not a lot he can do to improve there given his anatomical limitations. He can be guilty of second guessing his initial read, too, leaving him isolated and out on an island in space without the burst or explosiveness to get back into position.
